Predeceased by her husband, Jack, she was born in New Brunswick and adopted by her island for 54 years. She will be sadly missed by her family and very cherished friends who loved and cared for her. She was always an advocate for P.E.I. Trade and Commerce and wherever she went, she would say “When you come to the Island look me up,” as she passed them a coin from the ‘chamber’. “Shirl” loved a good story and a vigorous game of cards. She was fiercely independent, competitive and extremely talented and artistic. She viewed her life as a painting in progress. Seldom the image you started with but significantly improved by the evolution and challenge that finished it. That is our Mother and Friend. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Prince County Hospital and our friend, Dr. Kelly. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
