Waldemar “Wally” Walter MEIER
February 27, 1932 – March 8, 2017
Waldemar (Wally) Meier was born February 27, 1932, at home in Deer Ridge, SK. Wally passed away in his home suddenly in Deer Ridge March 8, 2017. He lived his whole life on the farm, He began farming at an early age due to his father’s passing when he was thirteen years old. Wally loved farming and he loved his herd of cattle. He also loved gardening and especially his flowers. In his younger years, he enjoyed curling, golfing, cross country and downhill skiing. One of his favorite pastimes in later life was watching all kinds of sports on television. Wally enjoyed dancing and attended many social events. In 1997 at the age of 65, while attending a polka fest in Meath Park he met his one true love and soul mate Shirley Miller. They were married the following year on October 24, 1998. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards and most of all just spending time together. Sadly, on February 24, 2017, Shirley passed away unexpectedly at home. Wally’s world was shattered and he passed 12 days later. We believe from a broken heart. As sad as we are to lose Wally, we take comfort in knowing Wally and Shirley have been reunited eternally. He leaves to mourn his brother George (Kay) Meier; sister Shirley (Andrew) Sjogren; nieces and nephews Gary (Colleen) Sjogren, Lori (Pat Biel) Burgess, Tim Sjogren, Kim (Con) Herzog, Della (Jim) Spurr, Kathy (Tony) Zimmerman, Dale Meier; great nieces and nephews Richelle (John) Lambiris, Justin (Jenn) Sjogren, Jill (Ian) Thomas, Carla (Greg) Skauge, Amber Burgess, Drew (Jannelle) Burgess, Megan (Sean) Meston, Brittney (Mitch) Cartier, Brandon (Shana) Herzog, Daniel (Jessica) Herzog; step children Yvonne Miller and Holly Capar (Darryl); step grandchildren Tanya (Mike) Bridges & their daughter Kennedy, Jake (Maria) Capar; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his parents Erna and Wilhelm Meier; nephew-in-law Brian Burgess; great nephew Devon Sjogren; step son Leroy Miller and his loving wife Shirley. Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Deer Ridge Rec Centre. Interment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
