Edwin M. Drover passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his loving family on March 16, 2017. Left with a lifetime of beautiful, happy memories are his loving and devoted wife of 46 years Regina, as well as his proud sons Shannon (Vicki), Jonathan (Alison) and daughter Meghan, grandchildren Jack, Harry, Maria and Eleanor whom Poppy adored beyond expression. Edwin grew up in Upper Island Cove and came from a large family. He is predeceased by his parents Priscilla (Reid) and Thomas Drover, sister Irene Sheppard, brother-in-law Eric Giles, parents-in-law Gertrude (O'Brien) and Patrick Morrissey, brothers-in-law Craig Morrissey, Felix Morrissey and sister-in-law Elizabeth Morrissey (Rotchford). Edwin leaves his brothers and sisters, Albert (Marie), Linda Giles, Aidan (Ann), Joan Lane (John), Aubrey (Beverley), Mary French (Neil), Mildred Guzzwell (Derrick), Brenda Drover, and brother-in-law Jack Sheppard. He also leaves his brothers and sisters-in-law Agnes Murphy (Ron Byrne), Richard (Joanne), Kathleen Coombs (John), Annette Bennett (Joe), Margaret Comerford (Rick) and Tim, a large circle of nieces, nephews of whom he was a proud uncle, his cousins in the Drover and Reid families, neighbours Dr. William and Mrs. Sheila Gushue, Carolyn Bradbury and Gerald White, Dr. Michael and Mrs. Alice Furlong and Middle Gull Pond neighbours Maude and Bert Roberts, as well as countless friends and his work colleagues at Freedom 55 in St. John's and London, Ontario, staff of The Wilds and the Canada Newfoundland Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board. Edwin started his career in financial services in 1968 and made many significant contributions to the profession during his 49 year career. He was also an active entrepreneur in the province with interests in real estate, small business as well as recreational and tourism development. During his lifetime, Edwin was a member of many worthwhile organizations of national and provincial scope including the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, National Capital Commission, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Health Care Foundation, Evergreen Environmental Board of Directors, and Newfoundland Power. He was a Commander with the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem. For over 39 years, he was a committed and dedicated Rotarian with the Rotary Club of St. John's North West and was very proud of the initiatives he started through his work there, in particular Rotary Manor, Rotary Music Fest and Food for the Needy. Edwin loved his province and was a long serving member of the PC Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell's Funeral Home on Freshwater Road on Saturday, March 18 from 6 - 9pm, Sunday March 19 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral will be held on Monday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Flowers graciously declined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Edwin's memory to The Gathering Place.
