NEW GLASGOW - James Stanton “Jim” Scott, 84, New Glasgow, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his wife by his side.
Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Ira Maxwell and E. M. Grace (Curnew) Scott. Prior to retiring in 1988, Jim was employed as a draftsman with the former TrentonWorks for 34 years and, following, enjoyed a four-year employment with Proudfoots Home Hardware.
Jim greatly enjoyed singing and travelling with the East River St. Mary’s Male Choir. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan and enjoyed spending time with his dogs. Jim was a quiet gentleman, who looked forward to sharing each day with his wife and best friend, Annie. A person of faith, he believed that life only changed, not ended.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Annie J. (Johnson); sisters-in-law, Lillian MacKenzie, Pictou; Jennie Barnard, Pictou; Claire Scott, New Glasgow; brother-in-law, Earl (Christine) Johnson, River John; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Gordon “Bud” Scott; sisters-in-law, Jessie Johnson and Zelna Johnson; brothers-in-law, George Johnson, Sandy MacKenzie, David Barnard, Gerald Johnson; nephew, David Johnson.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel with niece, Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Pictou County VON.
