Passed peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017, after a long battle with cancer, former St. John's City Manager. Neil A. Martin, BA,MPA, age 67 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife and best friend of 44 years Bev (nee Tilley); sons David and Keith (Nicole); sister-in-law Carol Gillis; nieces Kathy Gillis-LeMessurier and Karen Gillis, all three whom were a great help and comfort during his illness; niece Colleen Gillis; brother-in-law Derek Tilley (Carolyn); nephews Derek and Stephen Tilley and cherished pet Cabot. Also leaving with fond memories are his traytown friends Sandy and Perry Grimes, Mel and Lisa Arnold and Howard and Audrey Elms. The Martin family would like to extend a special thank you to niece Kathy Gillis-LeMessurier for her loving care, and to Drs. Sutton, Kaman and Ahmad, and the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Treatment Centre and to the doctors and nurses of The L.A. Miller Center. At Neil's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. Interment to follow at a later date.
