MORSE, Gordon L. GREENWICH -In Memory of Gordon L. Morse
Gordon passed away peacefully on the morning of March 17, 2017 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was born on July 16, 1936 at Bridgetown, NS to Leslie and Helen Morse (Trimper). He attended high school in Bridgetown, and joined Scotiabank on July 6, 1951, where he was employed for 22 years. Following this, he made arrangements with a friend to purchase A. W. Allen & Son Ltd. in Middleton, where he was president for 12 years. He then went to work with Atlantic Trust Company for several years as Vice President, Atlantic. At various times he was involved with Lions Clubs in Bridgetown, New Minas, and Port Williams. He was also a member of the Rotary Clubs in Sydney and Dartmouth, and was involved considerably with the Baptist Churches in Bridgetown and Kentville. He worked as a volunteer at the Valley Regional Hospital, and was a member of Ken-Wo Golf Club in New Minas for over 20 years. He was an active curler in both Kentville and Sydney. He and Elaine enjoyed duplicate bridge with the Greenwich Bridge Club, and "good fun" bridge with friends at a local men's club. More recently, he was a member of the Port Williams United Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, D. Elaine (LeBlanc); sons, Rick (Janie), David (Ann), and daughter Diane Supple. There are seven grandchildren, Luke, Timothy, Katrina, Kayla, Jessica, Jillian and Jennine; and one great-grandson, Able. He was predeceased by his brother, Garnet and his sister, Maureen, as well as both parents. The Morse family extends profound thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and other VRH staff for the exemplary care shown to Gordon while he was in their care. There will be no funeral as requested. A Family & Friends Memorial Reception will be held from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at White Family Funeral Home, 100 Cornwallis Street, Kentville, NS.
