We, the family of Roy Bramwell ‘RB’ Urquhart, sadly announce his passing on Sunday, March 19, 2017, in the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 90. Born October 31, 1926, in Sydney, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Brown) Urquhart.
Until retirement, Roy was employed as an engineer with CN and VIA Rail.
He is survived by his wife, Marie (Richards); sons, Richard (Yvonne), Ottawa, Keith (Carol), Wilburn and Jamey (Trent), Halifax; five grandchildren, Jordan, Rory, Kiel, Remy and Maxine; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his daughters, Elayne and Doelcam; daughter-in-law, Conney Urquhart. The last surviving member of his immediate family, Roy was also predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy and Annie and brothers, Alec, George, Donnie, Kenny and John. The family would like to thank the staff of the VON and Palliative Care Unit, Dr. Murdock Smith and Dr. Anne Francis D'Intino for their care and compassion. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, March 24 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the VON or the palliative care unit at the CBRH.
