Passed peacefully away at St. Clares Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, Gertrude Best of Southern Harbour, aged 77 years. Predeceased by son Brendan Best; grandchildren baby Harold Guy and baby Ellen Gilbert; parents Jeremiah and Josephine Ryan; brother Denis Ryan and sister Kathleen Lake. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Alex of 54 years; children Bridie Guy (Harold), Josephine Barry (Maurice), Julia Walsh (Brian), Isabelle Hynes (Darrell), John (Lyn), Jeremiah (Patricia); Madonna Delaney (Brad) and Susanna Gilbert (Tony); daughter-in-law Bernice; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Imelda Hutchings (Bill), Bernice Boyd (Bill) and Marion Masters (Andy); brothers David (Theresa), Jerry, Emmett (Sheila), Vince (Mary), Tom and Raymond (Heather); a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, Southern Harbour on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 2 pm - 10 pm and Friday March 31, 2017 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Christ The King Roman Catholic Church with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Southern Harbour.
