Shirley May Waldenberg (née Froehlich), aged 84 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Thursday, March 30th, 2017. Shirley was born in Tuxford, SK in 1932. She took her schooling in Marquis, SK and then her Commercial course in Swift Current, SK. Her first job was with the Unemployment Office in Moose Jaw, and then at the Sask Wheat Pool. She married George in 1951 and moved to the farm. They had many happy years raising their children Randy, Dawn-Heather, and Anky (Ann) - who was almost one of their own - there. Shirley was a member of St. John’s Church, St. John’s C.W.L., and then St. Joseph’s C.W.L. She was active in the “Home and School” and also the Community Club. In 1971, she started working at the Times Herald for many happy years, and also worked with Primerica Investment Company, retiring in 2002. During all these years, Shirley shared the love of Square and Round Dancing as George’s partner for 40 years. They had wonderful times meeting so many new friends across Canada. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary Ellen and Leonard; sisters: Alice, Paula, and Audree; brothers, Leonard and Joe; sisters-in-law: Doris, Elsie, Adele, and Margaret; daughter-in-law, Brenda; brothers-in-law: Fred, Alec, Harry, Bill, Don, and Francis; and nephew, Mark. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children: Randy, Dawn-Heather (Guy), and Ann (Bill); grandchildren: Russ (Lindsay), Tammy (Dave), Leah, Courtney, Brady (Meghan), Bobbie-Jo (Chad), Dwayne (Patti),Stacey (Phil), Julie (Dean), David (Alma), and Geof (Jody); great-grandchildren: Unya, Ludwig, Inga, Shaddi, Charlie, Katie, Shantaye, Daegan, Tristan, Rachael, and Paige (Brenda’s); many wonderful nieces and nephews; and special brother, Garry. Many hours spent together. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw. Father Rick Krofchek will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
