With deep sadness we the family announce the passing of Terrance “Terry” William John Keeping, age 64, beloved son, father, grandfather and uncle on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in North Sydney on November 8, 1952, Terry was the son of Wanda (Piehl) Keeping and the late William “Bill” Keeping.
He worked for Marine Atlantic on shore and later on the vessels until he retired in 2013. He was well known for many years as a concrete worker. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and camping and an animal lover especially his shadow, Mai- Ling. He was very active in the Cub & Boy Scout movement and a die-hard Detroit Red Wing and Rolling Stones fan. Besides his mother Wanda, he is survived by his three children, Amanda Keeping (Kyle Sherwood), North Sydney, Neil Keeping, Dartmouth and Logan (Kirsten Stevenson), Fort McMurray, and his pride and joy, his three grandchildren Nash, Tatum, and Matthias. He is also survived by his sister, Trudy (Stan) Flynn, North Sydney.
He was predeceased by his father, Bill Keeping in 2005.
Visitation for Terry will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, prayers will follow with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
