Douglas Cymerys
October 6, 1942 – March 23, 2017
Mr. Douglas Cymerys was born October 6, 1942 in Prince Albert to John and Pauline Cymerys (nee Hrynuik), and was the youngest in his family. He passed away on March 23, 2017 at the age of 74. Doug will be missed and lovingly remembered by his brothers Mike Cymerys and Ed (Glenda) Paley; sister in law Janet Paley; nephew Glenn (Kelly) Paley and son Tyson; and niece Leanne (Peter) Mate and sons Matthew, Patrick and Jacob. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Peter Paley; his sister, Ann Paley; and his sister in law Josephine Cymerys. Douglas grew up in Prince Albert and graduated from Prince Charles School. As a young man, he enjoyed playing and coaching softball and also bowling, winning a number of trophies. During his working years, he was employed at several grocery stores, the Prince Albert Herald and later Giant Tiger. He was a quiet and reserved man, but he enjoyed the company of friends over a cup of coffee or a meal. He especially liked to go to Grainfields and Ricky's restaurants. He followed in the footsteps of his parents and his brother Mike, and grew a big garden. As a bachelor, he knew how to cook for himself. For years, he belonged to the Minus One club, and served as bartender for their dances on the weekends. He liked to read novels, especially Westerns, and watching game shows and sports on television. His family have fond memories of playing cards with him while listening to old time music on the radio. He had a special relationship with Mike, who was his mentor as well as his older brother. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, 160 12th St. East, by Fr.
