It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Edith Hamilton on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 in Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 93 years. Joyce was born in Winnipeg, MB on October 4th, 1923 to Harold and Jennie Birtwhistle. She married Donald Patterson Hamilton on November 9th, 1946 in Winnipeg and they had two children, a son Ken, and a daughter, Judy. They lived in Stevens and Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario until they moved to Moose Jaw in 1966. Joyce led a full life, she played ladies baseball as a young woman, was an avid curler and became a proficient golfer. Joyce was an active member of the Eastern Star and Port Arthur Curling Club, and curled at the Hillcrest Golf and Country Club in Moose Jaw. She spent many years with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 59) in Moose Jaw and she enjoyed golfing at the Lynbrook Golf Club. Joyce loved her family, friends, animals and life. She and Don travelled extensively, loved to dance, and spent their last 10 winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona enjoying the sunshine and their active social life. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Hamilton; and her brother, George Birtwhistle from Winnipeg, MB. Joyce leaves to mourn: her son, Ken Hamilton (Bev) of Kelowna, BC; daughter, Judy Hamilton-Heisler (Gary) of Moose Jaw, SK; grandchildren: Carmen Davey (Cory) of Moose Jaw, SK, Denine Woodruff (Mark) of St Louis, Missouri, Reed Low of St Louis, Missouri, Tamara Kubik (Tom) of Saskatoon, SK, and Jeff Hamilton (Paula) of High River, AB. Joyce is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Devyn and Harper Davey, Connor, Cooper, Ava and Oliver Low, Mark III Woodruff, Finn, Kale and Asher Hamilton, and Jonah and Lylah Kubik. A Private Family Memorial Gathering will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw at a later date. We would like to thank the staff at Chez Nous Private Care Home, as well as Providence Place Long Term Care Facility, for their care during the past 7 years.
