John James MacQueen

John James MacQueen, 94, of Westmount, passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in North Framboise, he was the son of the late Neil and Christy (MacIntyre) MacQueen.
John James was a member of the United Protestant Church of Sydney River. He was a long-time summer resident of Loch Lomond and a former member of the Sydney River Volunteer Fire Dept. He also worked in the wholesale business for the last 30+ years before his retirement.
John James is survived by his wife, Margie; daughter, Wendy (Greg) Keigan, Westmount; sons, Gordie (Patsy), Marion Bridge and Ricky (Wilma), Westmount; sons-in-law, Daniel Jacques, Montreal and Sandy Mercer, Sydney; sister, Annabelle Campbell, Westmount; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Christine Jacques and Sally Mercer; sisters, Margaret MacLeod and Sadie MacAskill and a brother, Angus. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel (today) Monday, April 10, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the United Protestant Church of Sydney River on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care.
