It is with sad hearts and wonderful memories the family announces the death of Goldie B. Pickett, on 7 April 2017, in Regina, at the age of 97. Goldie was predeceased by her husband George, and parents John (“Jock”) and Manettia Bremner (nee Smith). She was a loving mother to Georgina (Ottawa), David (Regina) and Nancy Jenkins (Hamilton), and cherished sister of Pat Sims (Port Moody), and pre-deceased sisters Jean McCuaig (Eastend), Mabel (“Micki”) Gilham (Seattle) and Ruby Kennedy (Edmonton). Goldie will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, the extended Pickett and Bremner families, and friends near and far. Born in Moose Jaw on November 4, 1919, Goldie moved to Ottawa to work for the Department of Justice, and then to New York City with British Information Services. Goldie returned to Saskatchewan in 1950 where she married George and the couple began their life together in Regina. In addition to raising her family, Goldie worked at the Extension Services Department of the University of Regina A long time member of the congregation of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Goldie served in many capacities including the Altar Guild, St. Mary’s Anglican Church Women, and the Diocesan bookstore, The Churchmouse. Goldie was a quiet and private woman, but always ready to put the teapot on when anyone dropped by. She was a woman of great faith and treasured her relationship with God. In addition to her family and church, Goldie enjoyed travelling (including a trip to South Africa to celebrate her 80th birthday), furniture re-finishing and reading. A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 3337 15th Avenue, Regina SK, S4T 1T3. Private interment in Moose Jaw will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church (see above), or the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina SK, S4R 8P6. Arrangements are entrusted to W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. In living memory of Goldie, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
