Robarts, Elenor Henrietta “Shorty”, age 88, of Windsor, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 15, 1928, in Stone’s Cove, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Priscille (Pope) Bond. Elenor worked in the Dietary Department of the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, until her retirement. She was a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed her many trips to Florida with her family. She never forgot her roots and enjoyed the music and ways of her native Newfoundland. Elenor loved to stay active by playing soccer and hockey with her great grandsons, and her position was always a goalie! She enjoyed road trips to watch her great grandsons and their various sport, and also enjoyed knitting, quilting and baking her famous biscuits. Elenor was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 9, and a very active member of the Ladies Auxillary catering team. “Shorty” is survived by her daughter, Sandra “Sandy” (Garnett) Smith, Windsor; grandson, Christopher (Courtney) Smith, Windsor; granddaughter, Courtney (Dustin) Buchanan, New Glasgow; great grandchildren, Austin, Aidan and Brayden Smith, Windsor; and another great grandchild due this summer. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Carol) Bond, Halifax; sister-in-law, Joyce Bond, Halifax. Many nieces and nephews, special friend, Cyril and his family. Besides parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Keddy Robarts (1990); son, Thomas “Tom” Robarts (2002); brothers, Albert and William J. Bond; sister, Janet (Stanley) Handrigan and also two infant sisters. Visitation was 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Curry officiating. A private family interment was in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Elenor were requested to be made to the I.W.K. Foundation or the Palliative Care Unit (Hants Community Hospital).
