Wayne Gordon Snair

SNAIR, Wayne Gordon – 65, Truro, went home peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Antigonish, he was the eldest son of Bessie Snair, Antigonish, and the late Gordon Snair. Wayne grew up in Charlottetown and then later moved to Springhill in 1966. He graduated from Springhill Vocational School in 1969 with a trade in pipefitting. Wayne moved to Truro in the fall of 1969, where he met his best friend and loving wife, Gail, of 46 years. Together, they put roots down in Onslow and raised their family. Some special memories that Dad held close was fishing and four-wheeling with John, spending time at the family camp in Kemptown, skidooing and “hunting”, watching the grandchildren at various sporting events, spending time at the camper with family and friends, loved watching The History Channel and enjoyed going to the “Social” on Sunday afternoons. Wayne worked all over the country, including Newfoundland, Calgary, the Sky Dome in Toronto and various parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Dad worked hard and provided very well for his family. His final employment was at Wynn Park Villa where he made so many special friends, both staff and residents. He will be remembered as a hard worker, having a great sense of humour and a kind and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. Along with his mother, Wayne is survived by his wife, Gail (Best); daughters, Kelly LeBlanc (Gordon), Truro; Debra Atwell (Mike), Wolfville; Kimberley Snair, Dartmouth; three grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew LeBlanc and Kaleb Atwell; brothers, Brian Snair, Truro; Dan (Bonnie) Snair, Red Deer, Alberta. Along with his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Frank, Paul, Mike, Shane; sister, Mary (Bill) Albright. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Cortney Smith, Dr. David Henderson, Angela McDonnell, caring nurses at VON and the Palliative Care Team at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service that will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Kemptown United Church Cemetery, Kemptown, Pastor Ken Banks officiating. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society or Palliative Care Unit (CEHHC) are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
