It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melvin Gordon Gilley announces his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Sunday April 16, 2017 in his 78th year. Melvin leaves to mourn his daughter Pearl (Jeremy); sons Irving (Kim), Robin (Blaire) and Ronnie; grandchildren April (Jeremy), Angie, Dana, Jacklyn (Greg), Jenesta (Monty), Jennifer (Stephen), Melvin, Olivia (Sheldon), Stephen (Vicky), Amy, Ashton, Sarah and Tamara; great-grandkids Paige, Dylan, Destinee, Hope, Ciara, Emily, Jake, Hailey, Erin, Ethan and Elyssa; sisters Maxine, Emma, Claudin, and Edna; brother Maurice (Shirley); sister-in-law Mae (Aubrey); brothers-in-law Edgar and Carl (Gertie). Melvin also leaves to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends that he loved to chat with and visit. Melvin has been predeceased by his wife Rosanna; sons Warren, Murray and Hiram; father William; mother Pearl; step-mother Elizabeth; in-laws Archable and Martha Brown; sisters-in-law Annie, Faith and Ura; brothers-in-law Simon, Leslie, Basil and Martin; sister Julia; and brother Ronald. The family will be receiving family and friends on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, at St. Mary's the Virgin Anglican Church in Cow Head, NL, where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 2 pm, with Rev. Canon Terry Rose officiating. In keeping with Melvin's wishes, cremation will follow with burial at a later date.
