Merle Edwin Robertson
April 7, 1928 – April 21, 2017
Merlin “Merle” Edwin Robertson, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away in the Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Merle was born in Birch Hills on April 7, 1928 to Thomas & Ida Robertson. Merle attended Windermere School until age 15 and then worked on the family homestead at Weldon with his Dad and brothers until the passing of his Dad in 1950. Merle married his sweetheart, Anna Larson, on Nov 15, 1951. They were blessed with four children that they raised on the farm. Merle farmed his whole life on that land with Howard joining his Dad and expanding into a mixed farm operation. Merle drove school bus so that he could drive his children to school. It meant a long ride for the kids but it was worth it as they loved being with their Dad. Merle retired from farming and moved to Prince Albert with Anna in June 2013. Merle’s smile, husky laughter and sense of humor were always present as he found humor in almost everything. Merle leaves to mourn: his wife of 65 years: Anna; his children: Howard (Meridee), Dan (Toni Lynne) and Bonnie (Neil) Ball; and his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Merle was predeceased by his parents: Thomas & Ida Robertson; his son: Kenneth Robertson; and his brothers: Donald and Jack Robertson. A Memorial Service will be held at the Weldon Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Following the service there will be a private family interment at Weldon Lutheran Cemetery, followed by lunch at the Weldon Auditorium. In lieu of other tributes donations in memory of Merle may be made to Weldon Lutheran Church or the Weldon Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium. Brian and Bev Stobbs, Tracy-Lynn Switzer, Funeral Directors. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.MacKenzieChapel.ca 306.763.8488
