Passed on: April 25th, 2017

David Keith Evans, aged 79 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 at Pioneers Lodge. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Hilda. Keith is survived by his wife, Ruth; children: Alvin (Lana), Maureen, and David (Mavis); grandchildren: Shea (Courtney), Cole (Kirsten), Brennan (Tori), and Brett (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Ella and Wyatt; brothers: Bruce, Ian (Mary), and Rick (Joyce); as well as numerous other relatives. The family wishes to thank the staff at Pioneers Lodge for the loving care and many kindnesses they gave to Keith. Born in Moose Jaw on April 28th, 1937, Keith attended and graduated from Moose Jaw’s Victoria Public School and Technical High School. In elementary school he began to work in the family florist business, both after school and on Saturdays, for the right price of 15 cents an hour. After grade 12, he worked full time in the family business for one year. He then attended Michigan State University where he graduated with a degree in floriculture in 1960. He met his wife Ruth in Regina, SK and they were married in Regina in 1963. That year, Keith joined his father in the Moose Jaw business. His brothers Ian and Rick came into the business in 1970. Keith was well liked and in his youth became a Boy Scout Leader. As an adult he was active in the Crescent Park beautification efforts. As a florist he was elected president of Florists’ Transworld Delivery, Saskatchewan district. Professionally his knowledge of plant care and taxonomy was extensive, and he assisted many with their plant problems. Keith was an outstanding floral designer. He won a regional design competition and subsequently placed very high in the national competition in Minneapolis. In his spare time, Keith spent hours tinkering with cars. He was especially fond of Model T’s and Model A’s, and was very knowledgeable about vintage cars in general. A favourite pastime of Keith’s was participating in trail rides, where he was the life of the party. Keith’s life revolved around Ruth and their family, and bringing joy to people through flowers. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Keith’s name may be made to Five Hills Health Region/Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert St, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 2Y2.
