John Joseph Forrest

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Joseph Forrest, age 81, on Sunday April 30, 2017 at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
John was born in Sydney Mines, December 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Alexander and Theresa (LeBlanc) Forrest. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. John was employed as a stevedore with Marine Atlantic until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney. John enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his old Ford trucks and taking his dog ‘Beauty’ for walks.
John is survived by his wife, Lillian (LeBlanc) Forrest; his daughter, Agnes (Jim) Musgrave; his sons, Cyril Forrest (Debbie Tremblett) and John (Maureen) Forrest; his three grandchildren, Cory Forrest, Ryan and Ashley Musgrave, and twelve great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Russell, Raymond, Jerome, Alec and Steve; his sisters, Rita, Theresa Mary, Leona, Florence, Viola and Ella May.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. A burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
