With great sadness we, the family of Nelson Craig Munroe, regret to announce his passing on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born August 25, 1969 in Sydney, he was the son of Mary ‘Margie’ (MacLeod) Munroe, Marion Bridge and the late Hughie Munroe.
Craig was employed in the forestry industry, as well as a fisherman. For 25 years, he was a member of the Marion Bridge Volunteer Fire Department for which he received commendation from the Governor General. He enjoyed playing softball and hockey and will be best remembered for his strong head, but big heart.
Besides his mother, Craig is survived by his son, Curtis, Sydney; brother, Dennis (Sheryl Hunter), Halifax, as well as many very close extended family members.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at Oakfield Cemetery, with Nancy Whitney-Latham, DLM officiating. A celebration of life will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, May 4 at the Marion Bridge Recreation Centre.
