Born: July 10th, 1937

It is with great sadness we announce the death of our father and grandfather Camillius Francis Alex, 79 of Eskasoni.
Born July 10, 1937 in Barra Head, Chapel Island, he was the son of the late Pu'tus Isaac and Esther (Paul) Alex.
He was a member of the Holy Family parish. His faith was strong and loved his patron Saint, Saint Ann. He enjoyed sharing his traditional and cultural knowledge with family and friends. He was an avid storyteller and treasured the visits with his family and friends. Camillius was a traditional Christmas wreath maker and enjoyed fishing with his late friend Walter Poulette. In earlier years he worked in construction.
He is survived by four sons, Douglas (Jackie) and George, Rodney (Joanne) and Camillius Jr. He cherished and loved all eight of his grandchildren, Justine, Courtney and Kyle, Libbie, Abby and Maria, Helen Theresa and Leanne. He had one godson he loved dearly, Pauljij Francis. Also survived by many nieces and nephew.
Camillius was predeceased by his wife, Annie Jane Alex; his son, John Edward Alex; one grandchild, Nichole; two sisters, Jane ‘Bonnie’ Alex, Annie Marie Alex and two brothers, George Alex and Victor (Pu’tus) Alex.
The Alex family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the searchers for supporting us during the search of our father, grandfather and uncle, your love and kindness will never be forgotten. You have all have become our extended family.
Visitation for Mr. Alex will begin after 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8 at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in Holy Family parish cemetery.
