With sadness, we, the family of John Arthur Thompson, regret to announce his sudden passing on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born February 3, 1947, in Sydney, John was the son of the late Charles and Cora (MacKinnon) Thompson.
He was formerly employed at Eaton’s and Mason’s Wholesale, retiring from Island Delivery Service. John is survived by his wife, Christena (Lund); daughter, Arin (Leroy), Sydney; sisters, Evelyn and Coral Lee, both of Sydney; brothers, Charles (Marilyn), Sydney, James (Judy), Sydney, Peter, Sydney, George (Heather), North Sydney and Frank (Laura), Howie Centre; granddaughter, Addison, his pride and joy.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, May 9 at 11 a. m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
