Muriel passed away with her family by her side, on Sunday May 7, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born January 8, 1934 to Bill and Sarah Tarry in Silver Park, SK. Muriel is predeceased by her parents; brothers Dale and Jim Tarry; sisters-in-law Gloria Tarry and Helen Leedham; brothers-in-law Robert Bennett and John Leedham; step-brother-in-law Dan Morgen; father and mother-in-law Harry and Laura McEwan; step-father Calvin Rhea and favourite Aunt Ivy Meston. Muriel will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Keith McEwan; sons Brian McEwan and Allen (Cheryl) McEwan; daughter Judy (Kevin) Wicharuk; grandchildren Tristan (Jessica) McEwan, Spencer McEwan, Hunter McEwan, Alex Wicharuk and Niko Wicharuk; sisters, Frances Bennett, Barbara (Phil) Morganstern and Karen Morgen; brothers Kenneth (Rena) Rhea and Peter Rhea; sisters-in-law Sharon (Roy)Tarry-Rierson; special nieces Maureen (Rob) Kidby, Bev (Glen) Ruskin and their families. She spent most of her younger years out west. She received her education in Naisberry, SK and went on to study nursing in Tisdale graduating as a Certified Nursing Assistant with her dear friend Claire Sopczak. Muriel worked in pediatrics and then found her niche working with the elderly. Muriel loved nursing as she was such a kind-hearted woman and put others ahead of herself. She worked for years at St. Anthony’s, retiring from Providence Place. In her retirement years she enjoyed volunteering at Timothy Eaton Gardens Senior Citizens Association. She loved spending time with all her grandchildren and was so very proud of all their accomplishments. Muriel and Keith enjoyed travelling to Europe, Cuba, Arizona, Florida and Nashville. Muriel loved spending time tending to her flower gardens and looked forward to special shopping trips with her best friend, Mary Picard. She kept herself active by going on long walks in Churchill Park and exercising at Timothy Eaton Gardens until she became ill. Muriel will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, friend, sister, aunt, and grandmother who was always there when you needed her. She was a strong woman who never complained, even during her illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Kerri Hetherington, Home Care and Palliative Care nurses, the ABCC team as well as Dr. P. Vertue, Dr. O. Rodwin, day surgery staff as well as the surgical staff on the 3rd floor of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Muriel. A Celebration of Muriel’s Life will be held on Monday May 15, 2017 at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., at 1:00PM. Della Ferguson will officiate. For those so wishing donation in memory of Muriel may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, S4P 2R3; Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, S4T 7T1; Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, S6J 0C2; or a charity of choice.
