Wendall Francis Sr. (Gump) Gillis

Passed away May 11, 2017 at the Colville Manor in Souris P.E.I. at the age of 85. Wendall is predeceased by his son David and survived by his wife Jeannie (MacCallum) Gillis; his children Gary, Linda (Ian) Matthews and Wendall Jr. (Mary). Celebrating his life are his six grandchildren (Kristine, Kraig, Brian, Camille, Madeline and Jack), along with his sister Elva (Bill) Holland, brothers-in-law David, Peter (Remy) MacCallum as well as many extended family members. Wendall spent much of his career within Human Resources in Ontario (Bertram/O&K Inc. and Flocor Inc.), up until his full retirement in his mid seventies. Wendall was an avid sports enthusiast, excelling at many sports including his love of basketball and golf during his youth in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Much of the rest of Wendall's life had been dedicated to coaching his children and supporting the development of youth sports programs in Dundas, Ontario (hockey, baseball and basketball). In later years he especially enjoyed watching and following his grandchildren through their sporting activities. He enjoyed the last 20 summers at his cottage in Cable Head, P.E.I. Cremation has taken place. A service in St. Augustine's Parish in Dundas, ON will take place at a later date in the fall of 2017. A very special thank you to all the staff of Lady Slipper Lane for their excellent and compassionate care of Wendall.
