Promoted to Glory at The Salvation Army Glenbrook Lodge on Friday, May 12, 2017, Major Eva Victoria Snow at the age of 95 years. Eva entered the Salvation Army Officer Training College in St John's when she was 18 years old and was commissioned as an officer the following year. Her different appointments took her from St. John's to Vancouver, BC. She served as a Corps Officer in several Newfoundland communities before being transferred to the Social Services Department serving in many provinces across Canada. She retired after 48 years of active service. Eva was predeceased by parents William and May Snow; brothers: Joseph, Chesley, William and Reginald Snow; sister Hilda Snow; brothers-in-law Val Taylor and Gordon Warren; sisters-in-law Lorna and Helen Snow. Left to mourn with loving and cherishes memories are her four sisters: Marion Taylor of Melrose, MA, Carrie Gill, Ruth Warren of Mt. Pearl, Edna (Calvin) Way of Gander; many loving and cherished nieces, nephews and a large circle of family, fellow officers and friends. Many thanks to Doctor McKim, Majors Rex and Darlene Colbourne, Lorraine Abrahamse, Rene and Wanda Loveless, nurses and other staff members at Glenbrook Lodge for their compassion and care. Special thanks to our sister, Ruth, who lived close enough to Eva to visit her regularly and do many chores for her. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at The Salvation Army Temple, 101 Torbay Road on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 2 PM. Interment will follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
