It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dinah Caroline Brake announce her passing on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 82 years after a brief illness. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 62 years Charles "Charl", children: Wanda (Rick) Penney, Floyd (Rona) Brake, Michelle (Jason) Matthews and Janice (Karl) Brake; eight grandchildren: Laurie Penney (Roger MacInnis), Andrew Penney (Janna), Scott (Kayla) Brake, Nathan Brake (Adrianna), Brittany Matthews (Shane), Ryan Matthews, Evan Brake (Kristen) and Travis Brake; four great-grandchildren: Maggie, Daisy, Morgan and Hunter; sisters: Bernice Whelan, Mirley Banks, Dulcie (Frank) Sheppard, Rosalind Hillier and Sharon (Spencer) Osmond; special nieces: Thelma Cook and Veda (Randy) Brake; sisters and brothers-in-law: Olga Payne, Marie Park, Suzanne (Kenneth) Neibauer, Dawn (Arthur) Hickey, Bessie White, Lulabelle (Joseph) Noseworthy, Utley (Maggie) Brake, Vernon (Myrtle) Brake, Baxter (Loretta) Brake and Calvin (Joan) Brake; lifelong friends Harley and Susie Anderson; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John and Frances Payne, granddaughter Amanda Brake, sisters and brothers Delilah, Stella, Naomi, Ulric (Edna), John, David, Judy and Jennie (Noble), parents-in-law Clayton and Annie Brake, sisters and brothers-in-law Melba, Whyona (Austin), Charlie, Foster, Clyde, Luke and Bill. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Monday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 1 p.m. from Fillatre's Funeral Chapel, St. Mark's Avenue with Rev. Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy no flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.
