DANIEL WILLIAM 'DAN WILLIE' LYONS

It is with heartfelt sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Daniel William Lyons "Dan Willie", age 90 on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Donkin, April 13, 1927, Dan was the son of the late Thomas and Sarah (Campbell) Lyons.
Dan married the love of his life, Alice Maude (Devison). They built their home in Glace Bay and together raised four children; daughter, Deborah Reid (Michael), Glace Bay and sons, Tommy, Glace Bay, Leroy "Jr" (Patsy), New Waterford and David, Grand Mira, with whom he resided.
In 1944, at the age of 17, Dan began working at the Sydney Steel Plant, retiring in 1984. Dan and Alice enjoyed camping and going on regular trips to New Glasgow to visit family, but Dan's true "Happy Place" was out on the Mira taking boat rides on the PT Cruiser with his family.
Besides his children, Dan is survived by his grandchildren, Alice Ross (Phillip), Michael Reid, DJ Lyons, and Leigh Ann Arsenault; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, Michael, Stacey, Gracie and Jesse; sisters, Mary, Ethel Nearing and his brother, Charlie (Mary); nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Dan was predeceased by brothers, Henry and Thomas and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Lyons.
The visitation will be held on Friday, May 19 from 12 (noon) until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Rev. Carol Gillard officiating. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
