Lismore - Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Bryan, age 77, of Lismore, formerly of Trenton, passed away May 19th, 2017.
Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Landry) Wilcox.
She was a long-time employee of Coles Book Store, Highland Square Mall. In her younger years, Liz was an active softball player and loved bowling. Liz could always be found reading a good book, tending to her flowerers and vegetable gardens or in the kitchen pickling or baking. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore.
She is survived by her husband, Michael John Bryan, Lismore; son, Brian L. (Karen) Hughes, Trenton; daughter, Janet Hughes (Tyler MacKenzie), Pictou Landing; grandchildren: Tyler Carr (Emily Chambers), Brooklyn; Brandon (Loushanna) Carr, Three Mile Plain; Nathan Carr, Upper Falmouth; Keeva Roy, Abercrombie; Katelyn Calder, Kentville; great grandchildren: Jayce, Blake, and Alaynah Carr, Three Mile Plains; step-daughters: Paula Bryan, New Glasgow; Tracy (Travis) Roy, Abercrombie; Erin Bryan (Daniel Swain), New Glasgow; sister, Helen Gillis, Etobicoke, ON; brother, Doug Wilcox, Midland, ON; brother-in-law, Joe (Bernie) Hughes, Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Louis “Luke” Hughes; son, Steven Hughes; brother, Bernie (Mary Elizabeth) Wilcox; sisters: Isabel (Keith) Wark; Elsa (Bobby) Glendenning; sisters-in-law: Mary Hessian; Marion Connaughton; Fran Wilcox; brother-in-law, Pat Gillis; father-in-law, Paddy Bryan.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Sunday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral mass 2 pm Monday in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Lismore, with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Burial will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
