David Brian Hatcher, age 55, died peacefully in his home, Waycobah House, L’Arche Cape Breton, Iron Mines.
Born in North Sydney, he was the youngest child of the late Gordon and Helen Hatcher. Growing up, David spent time on the family farm and could often be found alongside his dad in “the workshop” singing Jim Reeves tunes. In his younger years, David was involved in Haley Street Adult Educational Centre. In 1993, David became a member of L’Arche Cape Breton. Through the joys and challenges of living in L’Arche, David loved and was loved.
He is survived by siblings, Ted (Elaine) Hatcher, Rita MacKinnon (Raymond), Philip (Shelly) Hatcher, Diane Hatcher, Stan (Heather) Hatcher, Calvin (Donna) Hatcher; special Aunt, Hilda Purves, and many nieces, nephews and cousins far and wide.
David will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his L’Arche Cape Breton family especially those he lived with at Waycobah House, Gary, Hollywood, Trevor, Rodney, Barbie, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Kevin, Asha, Roman and his special friend, Mukthar, Fran and Rachel.
David was predeceased by his loving parents and sister-in-law, Kimberly Kilback.
There will be a visitation on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shalom House, L’Arche Cape Breton and a Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 11 a.m. in the L’Arche Cape Breton Chapel. Reception is to follow at the Blues Mills Fire Hall.
There will also be a visitation on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, 2– 4 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney with a burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to L’Arche Cape Breton or charity of choice.
