CANN, Charles Franklyn “Charlie” – age 82 of the Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth passed away on May 20, 2017 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Dayton, Yarmouth Co., N.S on May 18, 1935 he was a son to the late Lyndon Harvey and Margaret Elsie (Brittain) Cann. Charlie loved spending time with his family and friends and was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. When he was able to, Charlie loved to travel, to go to yard sales and have yards sales of his own, donating the proceeds to Christmas Daddies. He often could be found going for rides on his scooter, shopping, and hanging out with his best friend Milton Fraser. He is survived by his loving sons, Tony Cann and Gordon Cann (Valerie); loving granddaughters, Shaunna Cann and Judy Cann; as well as loving great- grandchildren, Jaida and Denym Cann, Jairryn Maxwell and Jai Bright; brothers, John and Malcolm Cann and sister, Helen Gavel. Besides his parents Charlie was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; brother, Bryce; sisters, Donna King, Beverley Drouchers, and Sylvia Walters. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev Larry Pennell and Rev William “Bill” Crawford officiated. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Hebron. Family flowers only please. Donations in Charlie’s memory may be made to the Christmas Daddies. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Meadows who Charlie considered family for all of their kind and compassionate care.
