Olga (Nalepa) MacKinnon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Olga MacKinnon, 90, of Sydney, on May 23, 2017 at MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney. Born in Sydney she was the daughter of the late Michael and Dorothy (Melnick) Nalepa.
She was a past member of the Ukrainian Parish and proud of her Ukrainian heritage.
Olga devoted her life to her family; she looked forward to family gatherings with music and dancing as well as visits from family members or friends. In her younger years she was a member of bowling and dart leagues.
She loved her card club that was made up of her close friends. She had a bungalow in Grand Mira South which she enjoyed with her husband Malcolm and family. She never missed a bingo game and also enjoyed TV Bingo and scratch tickets.
She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm John and daughter, Linda MacKinnon; sisters, Mary and Annie, and brothers, Johnny and Alex.
Olga is survived by granddaughter, Pamela (Leo) Sullivan-Mugridge; son-in-law, Ambrose MacKinnon; great grandchildren, Chauncey, Brendan, Chailey, Braidan, Brydan and Chasitey, and a great-great granddaughter, Maddison. Also survived by Lucina Burke, a very good neighbour and friend whom Olga thought of as family.
Visitation for Mrs. MacKinnon will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26 at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating.
Burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery at a later date.
