BRAESHORE – Carl A. MacDonald, 79, of Simpson Road, Braeshore, passed away Saturday, July 5th, 2008, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Alexander and Florence (Fraser) MacDonald. Carl was a resident of Braeshore for the past six years, prior to which he resided in Toronto. Carl worked with Cox Engineering in Boston for 28 years. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. He is survived by his wife, the former Rita McIsaac; daughter, Carolyn (Mel) MacConnell, New Glasgow; grandchildren, Shelley (Colin) Sutherland, Halifax; Robyn (Jeff) Burrows, New Glasgow; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Norbert MacDonald, Massachusetts, USA; James A. (Kaye) MacDonald, New Glasgow; C. Fraser “Bud” (Betty) MacDonald, Massachusetts, USA; John MacDonald, Bedford; sisters: Kathleen Campbell, Stellarton; Helen (John) Granville, Belleville, ON; Florence (Brian) O’Brien, Halifax; Mary Claire (Walter) Nolan, Halifax; Jean (Allan) Stewart, Massachusetts, USA; Dorothy (Fred) Perry, Ottawa; sister-in-law; Anne MacDonald, Ottawa. He was predeceased by brother, Ronald Vincent; son, Ronald Wayne. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 21st, at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in memory of Carl may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society, or the Pictou County Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses.
