Tutt, Ella Mary In her 97th year Ella Mary Tutt died at the Pioneer Lodge, Moose Jaw, SK. Born Nov. 11, 1911 to Agnes (Aggie) and Richard (Dick) Clarke, pioneers of the Rouleau district, who came from Ontario in 1904. Ella was the first of four daughters- Hazel Nederhoff (Orville), Thelma Argue (Fred) and Trenna Drader, all predeceased, Ella is survived by Sam Drader, Trenna's husband. Her early education was at Adelaide school near the Clarke farm. Ella drove a team of ponies, taking her sisters along to Adelaide school. Later she attended school in Rouleau and then a secretarial-booking course in Regina. Thus prepared she became assistant to the Redburn Municipal secretary in Rouleau, a position she held for many years. On Nov 11, 1934 she married J. Kendall Tutt (Jack). They farmed in the Rouleau district until their retirement in 1972. During their farming years, they enjoyed racing Standard Bred horses throughout Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Their horse Dale Riggs became their "Star", racing undefeated for several seasons. They were very active in the Western racing industry. Ella served as secretary for the Sask. Colt Futurity and later became the Sask. representative member for the Canadian Trotting Association. Ella was predeceased by Jack on April 12, 1990. They were generous to community projects in their lifetime in Rouleau. Ella leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins who with their children forever will recall the happy times in the years gone by. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkview Funeral Home in Moose Jaw. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
