GORDON, Helen Mary (nee Wilhite)
Formerly of 1167 4th Ave. N.W. Moose Jaw.
Passed away on March 3rd, 2010 at the Coteau Range Manor, Avonlea, SK., at the age of 97, She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alexander “Scotty†(1986), an infant son James, her brother and her 2 sisters. Loving mother of Norm (Shirley) and Loretta (Ken Overby), and cherished grandmother of Bruce, Sherri, Lori (Dave), Jo Lynn, Troy (Lisa). She will also be missed by her 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. Helen was born in Griffin, SK to Clark and Lottie Wilhite on Nov 26, 1912. She was raised on the family farm in the Griffin area. When she finished her schooling she moved to Weyburn, where she met and married in 1939 Alexander “Scotty†Gordon. They started their family in Weyburn, moving to Moose Jaw in 1956 when Scotty was transferred with the Saskatchewan Training School. She worked at the Harwood Hotel and Pioneer Lodge until her retirement in 1976. Following Alex’s passing in 1986, Helen became one of the first residents of Victoria Towers. Helen loved to get together with friends and family to play cards. She enjoyed her country and western music. Helen cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and they loved the puddings she made for them. She enjoyed her walks, especially those that included leisurely strolls down Main Street to shop, until a fall and broken hip made this impossible. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkview Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 8th, 2010, at 2:00 pm, followed by an interment at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Coteau Range Manor in Helen’s memory are appreciated.
