Gwendolyn Lawless, 96 years of Amherst passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late Tupper & Nettie (Cook) Phalen.
During the war years, Gwen did electrical work on the Anson Airplane at Canada Car. After the war she married Bill Lawless and brought up her family, working briefly at McManaman Restaurant, Amherst.
Gwen is survived by 2 daughters, Joan (Robert) Lovelace of Tidnish, NS, and Donna (John), Clements Summerside, PEI; 2 grandsons, David Grady and Robert Lovelace; 2 grand daughters, Elizabeth Quashie and Colleen Belanger; 8 great grandchildren. She was predceceased by her husband Bill in 1987.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home , 70 Church St. Amherst, NS (667-8777). No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at the Christ Church Cemetery in the spring.
Should friends desire memorial donations may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
