It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frank M. Schenkels of Taxis River, NB. He died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Frank was born in Heeze, Netherlands on February 4, 1925 to his parents, Franciscus and Hendrica (van den Laak) Schenkels. On February 2, 1955, he married, Antonia (Spanjers) and shortly thereafter they came to Canada to settle down on the Gordon Vale farm in Parker’s Ridge, NB. In his life, Frank earned recognition as a hard working farmer who valued his family, friends and faith. Frank was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Adrianus and John; sister, Marie of the Netherlands. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Antonia; daughter, Mary Nabuurs (Arny); sons, Frank (Melissa), Henry (Debbie) and Joe (Valerie); sisters, Adriana van den Broek and Sister Cathrina Schenkels; brothers, Wim (Tina), Joe (Cathrina) and Harry (Riek). Also left to mourn Frank’s passing are his thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Boiestown on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 2 pm with Father Jacques R. Landry as celebrant. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
