(1907-2010) - RICHIBUCTO, NB- It is with sadness the family of Lucie (Daigle) Rioux announce her death on Sunday, March 21st, 2010 at the Stella Maris de Kent Hospital after her accident from which she never recovered. Born in Bar Harbor, Maine, on May 23th, 1907 she was the daughter of the late Jacques and Agnes (Tourmel) Daigle. Lucie worked as a governess in New York City as a young woman before meeting Elisée at a picnic at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Browns Yard. They moved many times with children Roger and Yvonne due to Elisée’s career as an R.C.M.P. officer. After his retirement they moved back to Richibucto, where they spent many happy years. Lucie was an active woman with many interests. She was a talented painter, weaver, worked with ceramics, was a wonderful cook and loved her garden and flowers. She was a long time member of the C.W.L and the Ladies Auxiliary Royal Canadian Legion. Other then her parents, Lucie was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Elisée, her daughter Yvonne, two brothers; Martial and Roger, and three sisters; Louise, Theresa and Marguerite. Lucie will always be loved and remembered by her family including eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Wednesday from 7 to 9, Thursday at 11:00 am until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 25th, 2010 at 1:00 pm, St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto. Interment will be in the Richibucto Parish Cemetery at a later date.
