The passing of James Hayward Cashen, husband of the late Violet (DeGrasse) Cashen, formerly of Maugerville, NB, occurred on April 28, 2010 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born on October 3, 1928 in Miramichi, NB, he was a son of the late Douglas Valentine Cashen. James was a Hydraulic Mechanic for NB Power. James was a member of St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. James is survived by his daughter, Michele Ballinger (David) of London, ON; five sisters, Eileen Smallwood of Cains River, Shirley Wilkins (George) of Cains River, Bonita Messer (Dwayne) of Fredericton, Pauline Cashen of Fredericton and June Wilkins of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and father, he was predeceased by his brother, Jack Cashen and his step-mother, Frances Cashen. Although there will be no visitation by request, a Memorial Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11 am with Rev. Gerald M. White as celebrant.
