Passed peacefully with family by his side at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, on Sunday, May 9, 2010.
John was the eldest of a large and loving family.
He leaves behind his devoted wife and best friend of 46 years, Shirley (nee Meikle). He will be greatly missed by his daughters, Michelle Hughes (husband Chris and sons Andrew and Robbie), Carol-Suzanne Little (husband Doug, daughters Stephanie, Kristen, new baby Ashley and son Tyler) and son Craig. Siblings, David (Pam), Vicki (Gary), Steven (Judy), Martin (Jan) and Mark (Michelle). Stepbrothers and sister, Paul Tomlinson (Barb), Peter (Elwin), Phillip and Francess Cheek (Thos).
Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, Burlington, Ont., 905-632-3333, Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A memorial for close family and friends will be held at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club, Friday, May 14, 2010, from 1-3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in John's honour to the Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, Ont., www.thecarpenterhospice.com.
