Doreen Alice O'Keefe, formerly of Lancaster, wife of the late Thomas O'Keefe, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre. Born at Saint John on May 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Bessie (Craig) Poley. Doreen was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia on Charlotte Street and Brunswick Square. She was a life member of Dr. William McIntosh I.O.D.E., and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary, Kirk Session and Board of Trustees for St. Columba Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading and gardening in her spare time. Doreen is survived by her two children, Michael O'Keefe (Norma) of Rothesay, and Cathy Allen (Don) of Clifton Royal; one brother, Kenneth "Sonny" Poley of Saint John; four grandchildren, Shane, Ryan, and Christopher O'Keefe and Courtney Allen; as well as great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Although there will be no visiting time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West (634-7425). Following a reception at the funeral home, interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
