At Hotel Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, May 23, 2010, Mr. John "Pete" Hurley of New Denmark passed away at the age of 72. Born at Digby, Nova Scotia in 1938, he was a son of the late Gerald Leroy and Helen Mary (Saulnier) Hurley. Mr. Hurley was a 3rd-degree member of the Knights of Columbus of the Perth-Andover Council. He worked for Sirois Trucking of Drummond and had previously been employed by the Iron Ore Company of Canada and the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway. He is survived by four children, Lise Desjardins (Denis) of Drummond, Ann Hurley of Smitters, BC, Pamela Hurley-Poitras (Daniel) of Saint-Leonard and Jason Hurley of New Denmark, five grandchildren, Helene, Gilles, Casey, Vincent and Alexis. He was predeceased by his only brother, Pat.
Resting at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Anderson Road with visiting on Saturday, May 29th from 1 to 2 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held with Father Curtis Sappier officiating. Interment will be in Digby, NS. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are by O'Regan's Funeral Home Ltd. www.oregans.ca
