1924 - 2010 - Lily Rose Henwood, 86, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Lily was born in London, England on April 2, 1924 the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Bond) Houseman. Lily was a housewife and mother who took great pride in raising her family. She was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch # 32, Hillsborough. She was an avid quilter, loved gardening, baking and hosting her large family for special occasions. Lily will be remembered for her great sense of humour and for her kindness. She was blessed to have had 64 wonderful years with her husband, Richard. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother who will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed by devoted and caring husband, Richard James Henwood; children, Michael (Ruth) of Stoney Creek, Richard Jr. (Carol) of Salisbury, Starr Holmden (Doug) of Lower Coverdale, Mark of Lower Cape, Merrill (Marjorie) of Lower Cape, Darrell of Moncton, Lynn Brantnall (Lorne) of Moncton, Lee (Bernadette) of Calgary; several cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by all of her family in the United Kingdom and by all of Richard's family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a son, Russell.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, June 4th, 2010 at 2:30pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating. Interment will be held in the Albert Mines Cemetery, Albert Mines, NB. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the funeral home for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
