Unexpectedly, on June the 4th, at Riverview Manor, in Bath, NB, Paul Finley Gardiner, of Woodstock, passed away. He was a loving husband to Glenna for nearly 70 years, and a son of Elva (Miller) and Finley Gardiner. Paul was born in McAdam, NB on October 5, 1920. He was a member of the Woodstock Baptist Church, life member of the Masonic Lodge McAdam, and also a Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Paul was a veteran of World War II during which time he was a Prisoner of War in Germany. Paul served at both McAdam and Fosterville as a Canada Customs Office from 1948-1984. He is survived by his wife Glenna (McKiel) Gardiner; sons Richard (Judy) of Fredericton Junction, NB; Michael (Betty) of New Maryland, NB; and daughter, Janice (Douglas) Wilson, of Bedell, NB; grandchildren, Jason (Teena), Jamie (Malika), Stephanie (Joe), Jayne, Catherine (Dwayne), Robert (Emily), Scott (Robyn) and Matthew (Jaime Lynn); five great-grandchildren; sisters, Nanette Stannix of Moncton, NB, Joan Courtney, of Arizona, and Josephine McCulley, of Winnipeg, MB, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by two brothers, Alex and Peter; and sisters Catherine Furrow, Fern Lehman, Evelyn Roberts and Florence Gardiner. The family would like to thank special caregivers Mary Young, Joelle Ibbitson, and the staff of Woodstock Extra Mural Hospital program. The family would like to also recognize the staff of the Carleton and Riverview Manors for their care and concern. Resting at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Rd, Jacksonville, on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm. A funeral service will be held from Carleton Funeral Home's Chapel on Monday, June 7 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rob Heffernan officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to the NB Extra-Mural Program, Canadian Diabetes Association or to a memorial of the donor's choice. www.carletonfuneralhome.ca
