Abe Friesen

FRIESEN - Abe was born December 8, 1943, in Swift Current, SK. He attended school in Swift Current and later attended college at the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained an Arts & Science degree with a major in Chemistry. His first year teaching was in Biggar, SK. In 1967, he bought his first home in Calgary where he taught at James Fowler High School. Traveling was in his blood which took him to High Gate Jamaica where he met the love of his life, Jennifer Martin and they were wed on December 23, 1972, in Jamaica. Abe has always had a sense of humour, and thought it would be fun to move his beloved Jennifer to Calgary in January 1973, and there he resumed teaching. When Jennifer passed away in 1976, he was heartbroken which lead to a career change. In 1978, he became a realtor where he could use his social skills to assist the community of Calgary. The majority of his time was spent following his dreams and his loves. He loved sports and always took time for a tennis or baseball game. His tennis matches took him around much of the southern United States. Baseball was his other sport of choice and he would want you all to know how HE hit the first homerun of the season for the Calgary Red Sox on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Another of Abe's loves was travel. He spent much time on a plane, chasing eclipses around the world, and experiencing new and unique cultures. Above all, Abe loved his family and friends and placed the utmost value on them, always making time for them. Abe, you will be deeply missed, you are loved forever!
