It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an extraordinary man, Patrick "Pat" Weldon Brophy, who died at his late residence in Blackville on July 5, 2010, just 10 days shy of his 82nd birthday. Born on July 16, 1928, Pat was the son of the late John and Cynthia (Vickers) Brophy. Pat attended St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, Blackville, he was a member of the Bishop James Rogers Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Renous. He spent 33 years as a guide at Wade's Fishing Camp, as well as numerous years with FPL with the spray program. Pat also owned and operated his own dump truck for years. He was inducted into the NB Salmon Hall of Fame in October 1998. He enjoyed telling stories about fishing, trucking and family, these are the things that family and friends will miss the most.
Left to cherish his memories are his special friend, Noreen, three sons: Bruce (Linda) of Chester Basin, NS; Sheldon (Della) of Douglastown, NB; Jeff (Denise) of Upper Blackville, NB; two daughter in laws: Jeanne of Saint John, NB and Pam of Burlington, ON, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Pat also leaves behind his extended family, Kenneth (Lorraine) of Scarborough, ON; Ronnie (Janet) of Blackville, NB; Terry (Sherry) of Florida, Jeff (Bev) of Saint John, NB; Lisa of Blackville, NB; two special grandchildren: Cassidy & Denver "Spike," who he loved very much and who made his days and nights very special.
Besides his parents, Pat is predeceased by: two sons: Ricky and Perry; six brothers: Calvin, John, Clarence, Chris, Joe and Melvin; five sisters: Elizabeth, Josephine, Geraldine, Carrie and Mary.
The family will receive visitors at his late residence, 106 Main Street, Blackville, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, Blackville on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11 AM with Father Vincent Donovan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, in Pat's memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
