Emma Elizabeth Locke, 30, Buffalo Narrows, Sask., formerly of Clarke Ave., Coxheath, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009.
Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Clayton and Genevieve ‘Genny’ (MacGillivary) Locke and sister of Michael.
Emma was a graduate of the BACS program at UCCB. She loved her time and studies at UCCB, with Mik’maq, social work and PCW courses being closest to her heart. As busy as she was with her studies, she still found time for Gobblefest. Emma continued her studies at the University of Maine in Fort Kent completing her degree in 2002. From 2002-2006, she ventured to Northern Alberta working in various communities. In 2006, Emma moved to Northern Saskatchewan where she worked in the two areas that she loved, social work and education. During her time spent in Northern Canada, she appreciated the people and their cultures.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 1 p.m., with Mrs. Pearl Miller officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Grand Lake Road Fire Hall.
