Cecil E. Williamson passed away suddenly on July 14, 2010, in his home in Rossland, B.C., due to complications of a recent motorcycle accident.
Cecil was born in New Waterford, N.S., May 28, 1955. He was extremely proud of being a Cape Bretoner. He moved to Trail, B.C. in his early 20s and found work at Cominco where he worked for 32 years as a steam engineer.
Cecil had a wonderful sense of humour and loved his motorcycle which he nicknamed 'Baby'. He had a strong sense of community and believed in helping where he saw fit. Cecil was involved with Rossland Minor Soccer during the 1990s, Rossland Light Opera Players, the Masonic Lodge and the Easter Star. These organizations will truly miss his involvement.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife Diane; son, Wade of Toronto, Ont.; daughter, Dawn (Ed) Compagna of Nelson; brother, Robert Joseph of Scotchtown, C.B., N.S.; sisters,Cindy (Jim) Hannigan of Montrose, B.C., and Shirley (Darrell) MacKenzie of Cold Lake, Alta.; as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins all across Canada.
A viewing will be held at Carberry's Funeral Chapel on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 7-9 p.m., with a Wake to follow at 1643 Victoria Ave. in Rossland. The funeral service will take place at St. Andrew's Anglican Church on Friday, July 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at the Mountain View Cemetery, with reception to follow at the Masonic Hall on Victoria Avenue. Bill Clark of Personal Alternative Funeral Services 'Carberry's Chapel' is entrusted with arrangements.
