Robert passed away peacefully, with his wife Rita of 56 years by his side, on July 23rd, 2010, at Hospice House in Kelowna, B.C.

Bob was born near Balcarras, Saskatchewan, May 11th, 1928. He moved with his family to B.C. in 1943, met and married the love of his life, Rita Janzen in Youbou. He worked in the forest industry all his life. His assignments took him to mills at New Westminster, Youbou, Gold River, Tahsis, Squamish, Burnaby, Savona, Williams Lake, Kamloops and Vancouver. Bob and Rita retired to Kamloops to Rivershore Golf Course in 1989 where they became very active in the community. They enjoyed many years with family and friends playing golf, bridge, and gardening. In 2007 they moved to Kelowna to the Missionwood Retirement Resort where they quickly made new friends. Bob will be sadly missed by his family and many new and old friends.

Bob is survived by his seven children, Brenda (Rob) Fraser, Debra (Murray) Roed, Kathy (JD Wilcox) Kilmartin, Stephen (Lorraine Mallon) Kilmartin, Kerry (George Maddison) Kilmartin, Jeffrey (Sonya) Kilmartin, Glenn (Sharon) Kilmartin; his grandchildren, Christine and Michael (Mieke) Fraser; Nicole and Eric Vander Wal, Randy, Marlee and Baylee Roed, Kiley and Allison Bell, Taylor and Houston Kilmartin, Tia Kilmartin, Robert, John, Cari and Daniel Kilmartin, Doug Soza, and Bob's great grandchildren Devon Parks and Hayley and Hunter Roulstone.

Bob was part of a large family consisting of 17 children. He is survived by his brothers Edward and Peter, his sisters Nora, Teria, Fran, and numerous nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Marie-Anne (Pilon); his brothers Joe, Tom, Pat, Paul, and his sisters Mary, Dee, Marg, Wynn, Bea, Agi and Gerry, and his granddaughter Alita (Roed) Roulstone.

We would like to thank the family doctors M. Langford of Kamloops, and Dr. M. Appleby of Kelowna, all the doctors at the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior and all the nurses and staff at the Hospice House in Kelowna for all their care.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31st at 1:00 pm at St. Charles Garnier Parish, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, B.C. with Father Wayne Pfliger as Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna, B.C., V1Y 5L3
