Dan Norman MacLeod of Stirling Road, Stirling, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Dan Alex and Catherine (MacLeod) MacLeod.
Dan Norman was employed with Department of Highways until 2005, retiring due to declining health. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, past master of the Masonic Lodge, Heather 124, a member in good standing of the Nova Scotia Truckers Association, life time member of the Nova Scotia Trappers Association and Sons of Temperance, member of the Framboise Seniors and volunteer firefighter with the Framboise/Fourchu Fire Department.
Surviving are his stepmother, Margaret (MacQueen) MacLeod; brothers, Dannie, Stirling and Karron (Fay), Howie Center; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Dan Norman was predeceased by his sister, Rodena MacLeod and brother, Angus.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Framboise on Monday 2 p.m., with Rev. Murdock MacRae officiating, assisted by Pastor Kevin Richardson. Interment in St. Andrews Cemetery. Preceding the funeral service, a masonic service will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
